The Great Wave Pietra Dura Mosaic Panel

This handcrafted mosaic recreates the legendary “Great Wave” by Katsushika Hokusai through the timeless technique of Florentine stone inlay. The composition blends the richness of lapis lazuli with the delicate translucency of marble and xonotlite, forming dynamic contrasts of ocean depth and foamy crests. Rhodochrosite and pyrophyllite add subtle texture and warmth to the scene. Each stone was meticulously shaped, polished, and fitted by hand, making this artwork a unique interpretation of a world-famous masterpiece.
